discontent monotonous.

dazed, as if
a look says everything.
the truth is avoiding gazes
means nothing at all.
all of us, we walk around
absorbed by monotony.
our worlds have proven bland,
false, engaging.
disconnect and reflect.
pretend there are things more important,
more real, right here.
refusal is apparent,
unavoidable, the truth.
we are here to learn and,
yet,
all i've learned so far is how to
avoid my education.
(procrastination is my
best friend's name)
and, i suppose, the glances
we exchange when
we each look up
from our cellular phones
and our laptop computers
at the same time
become
unfortunate
and sad
because they were never
real connections
to begin with.
(ending with a preposition
is unreal)
i'm waiting for
a very important message
informing me of
some impact i've made on
someone else's life.
what are you waiting for?
(another preposition and home)
of course,
we are here
for the times in between when
fingers intertwine and
pairs of lips mingle
in the same vicinity.
but, until then,
we are dazed.
